A Joyous, Healthy and Happy 2008 to Everyone!

Sorry for not being in touch since our December meetings in Alexandria, VA, however, I did have some medical situations that I had to attend too during the holidays.  I also apologize to all for the delay of the national Newsletter not being distributed as yet.  Our Editor is having problems with the printers and that situation should be resolved real soon.

Our first big event of the year is the, 2008 New York City, Tartan Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, April 5th, 2008, 2pm.  We are again looking forward to this event with much enthusiasm; it is always exciting to be part of the group when we march up 6th Ave, also known as The Avenue of The America’s.

December 2007 Alexandria, VA, Drum Major Tom King of The Shamrock & Thistle Pipe Band, Ocean City, NJ

Many of our National Council members are planning on being there, to mention a few, John Norman & Judy MacLeod, Vice President, Richard & Cindy MacLeod, Treasurer, Steven and Mary MacLeod, RVP Mid-Atlantic Region, William C and Irene Macleod, Past National President, of Chicago and William G & Pat MacLeod USA Website Manager.  We will be forming at the corner of 44th St and 6th Ave; we hope to be marching behind The Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band of Ocean City, NJ, with Tom King, their famous Drum Major.  We are looking for a large turn out of members and non-members a like that will make it a full day of Scottish fair with our clan.  Immediately following the parade I have reserved the upper room to the

Old Castle Pub and Restaurant on 56th St and Seventh Ave.  Please join us for a WEE bit of lunch, refreshments and social enjoyment.

Please log onto our web-site www.macleodnortheast.org for the latest news concerning the parade. During the full week of March 30th through April 6th there are many Scottish events being scheduled by the St Andrews Society which you may be interested in attending?  So visit our web-site where we have a link on our index page direct to their Parade web-site.

John Norman MacLeod our new National Vice President from Naperville, IL.

During our meetings in Alexandria the clan officially awarded me the Clansman of The Year Award.  This recognition is the highlight of my tenure serving the clan.  Kathy and I were invited out for dinner that evening by my DNA Cousin, Bill G and Pat MacLeod of Chicago.  Bill is our USA Website Manager and Pat is our roving photographer while we are at parades.  Well it turned out to be a big surprise to us because about ten of our council members and their wives showed up and we had a long table at the Stardust Restaurant.   The other surprise was one of the managers had taken the time to write a Congratulations greeting on the side walk just outside the main entrance and gave me my own Star in three colors.  How great is that?   My very own side walk Star.

That greeting brought on many laughs and started a very enjoyable evening.  They also invited a very dear friend of ours to join us, Brenda Fletcher, our previous Migration Director, originally from Marietta, GA, now living on Marco Island, FL.  This dinner was a wonderful surprise to Kathy and I, we thank all that were involved.
